When I had small children and a full time job, Anna Quindlen’s column “Life in the Thirties” made me feel seen and understood. I think you’re doing the same for your peers and giving me a great big belly laugh along the way. And there’s nothing wrong with some light weights…

My sons are young adults now, so this is both a hilarious flashback (Did you know that the wrong socks can deform your infant's ankles?) and a cautionary tale for if/when my kids reproduce. Thank you!

My favorite was Mary Karr’s stories of struggling in single motherhood and when Mary would ask her mother for help, her mother telling her “I don’t do children.” And Mary quipped back “What exactly is it that you do do mother?!” Now apparently they’ve reconnected over Catholic churchgoing, which makes me wanna vomit 🤮 a river of enmity.
