Jesus Hopalong Christ. My kids practically raised themselves. They turned out very well. Both are nearly 50, still alive, employed, and never been to jail. Can’t ask for more than that.
My mother was prone to finding and pointing out all my faults. I did not realize till I was in my fifties that she spoke of me to her friends (or anyone who would listen) about what an amazing person I was. I realized then that her kvetching was because she was intimidated by my achievements because she’d never had a chance to do the kind of things I did.
