Here are some more gift suggestions answered from the comments section on the original post! So many grouchy, old men, cool siblings-in-law, and impossible mother figures, but WE WILL GET THROUGH IT. (Also here are Part 1 and Part 2 and Part 3 should you want to go down this vortex)
And now, my opus:
My 70-year-old mother-in-law who celebrates every holiday to excess — if the banks are closed, she sends a card and a gift to my children. Christmas is her Super Bowl, and she manages to purchase an absurd quantity of high quality gifts for every person in our extended family. Every gift is wrapped, by her, better than Martha. The excess and pressure of it all stresses me out every year, and I have no desire to return her love language. But I do want to find something she'll truly love. My instinct is a book because everyone loves books, right? But she's not a reader. Donating in her name would be taken as passive aggressive, I think. She loves her grandkids, her small dog, making her home beautiful, and tearing around town on errands 365 days a year. She loves Christmas so much, and I want her to feel her love returned, even if I don't shop like she does. Thank you! $75-100 budget!
