CAMPAIGN STATUS, WEEK OF 8/12-8/19:
Your opponent is coming off a tidal wave of positive media coverage before she takes the stage at the DNC. You have several planned media events and a major social media platform at your disposal to change the narrative. How do you redirect?
1.
THE EVENT: Speech on Antisemitism at Bedminster Golf Course
THE OBJECTIVE: Shore up support from the increasingly fractured Jewish voting bloc by pledging allegiance to Israel.
THE PLAY: Openly disrespect dead military heroes and also brag that your rich donor friend’s wife is more deserving than the veterans awarded medals of honor because “they’re dead” and “she’s healthy.”
2.
THE EVENT: Trump Rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania
THE OBJECTIVE: Reclaim the groundswell of positive sentiment after the assassination attempt in the same state, and reach out to voters in the state who feel stung by Harris not choosing Governor Shapiro as her running mate.
THE PLAY: Call attention to your opponent’s physical attractiveness and invite people to compare her, a youthful woman you personally described as bearing a resemblance to Sophia Loren, to you, the oldest Presidential party-nominee in history with a cartoonish skincare regimen that has only gotten more noticeable as you have fought the ravages of time.
3.
THE EVENT: A live-streamed conversation with Elon Musk on X (Twitter)
THE OBJECTIVE: Appeal to the redpilled youth with a no-holds-barred, freewheeling conversation with a known firebrand, re-establishing the campaign’s renegade brand for an audience of millions.
THE PLAY: Ramble semi-coherently then, while sucking up to Elon Musk by praising him for firing striking workers in 2022, accidentally commit a major union violation prompting the United Auto Workers to immediately file federal labor charges against you and Elon Musk for “illegal attempts to threaten and intimidate workers.”
4.
THE EVENT: A post on Truth Social
THE OBJECTIVE: Allow the candidate to do what he does most effectively, post on his own social media platform to directly connect with voters
THE PLAY: It’s an AI-generated lie about Taylor Swift fans supporting the campaign, openly inviting the most powerful internationally touring pop star to correct his error and endorse his opponent.
🎭. i loved this and am lightheartedly laughing, but only because we have a glimmering shred of hope to which i cling with all my (admittedly limited) upper body strength. go Kamala!!
Thank you for reminding me that I didn't live in Italy during Berlusconi but this is pretty darn close.
And this, the sure sign that things will be okay: the day after my Fodor's Toronto arrived, Biden dropped out.
