A not great time for the newsletter!
When I endorsed now mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani in June after the primary, my paid subscribers took a nosedive.
During this election, paid subscribers once again fell precipitously. The graph is very disheartening.
Bari Weiss’ center-right Substack got acquired for $300 million and now she’s running CBS. I wrote a progressive Jewish opinion and lost so much money it’s essentially deplatforming.
I share my writing for free because I want it to be shared, but if this is going to be a viable platform for my writing, it’s going to mean we are all bought in.
