Hi. I have seen a LOT of people criticize nice, decent, tall man Jeff Bezos for today’s Blue Origin flight where his normal-looking space ship thrust its tip through the earth’s atmosphere, and I am honored to be writing the only article saying resoundingly that I think it was good. And cool. And a beacon of hope for the world etc.
And I am CERTAINLY not just saying this because it is now clear to me that Jeff Bezos has the means to escape the very planet he is actively seeking to destroy and I would like to be on that rocket ship. With my kids.
So, let me state with a very clear voice that I think the gals on the ship are all normal and NOT a nightmare blunt rotation of wealthy freaks untethered from reality plus two aeronautics engineers.
And also how DARE anyone call it a billion-dollar-Tower-of-Terror ride of capitalistic excess, when actually, it was good for science that they did this. Why? Because space is science, and the ladies went to space.
And I absolutely do not think it is craven pink-washing to frame the passengers as feminist heroes for participating in a billionaire’s deeply Freudian vanity project as he endorses and supports the president responsible for rolling back women’s rights by half a century.
Because true feminism simply IS space camp make-a-wish for women who vacation exclusively on private islands.
And little girls watching this need to learn the inspirational message so clearly telegraphed by this triumphant achievement in feminism:
