My grandmother used to say, “When the earth is cracking behind your feet, you put one foot in front of the other and go forward.”
I have been thinking of her these past weeks as I have recoiled from the slaughter on October 7th and the brutal retaliation against Palestinians since then.
I am trying to shoulder grief and guilt as I put one foot in front of the other. I am trying to experience Jewish joy as the world disputes the enormity of that grief and collapses us into Netanyahu’s military regime.
