This will be longest amount of time I have been away from my two children in their lives.

Three days, two nights. When my train left Grand Central for this upstate hamlet where I sit and type from a wobbly desk that looks out onto a trout stream, I felt snowplowed by remorse. I immediately strategized getting off at 125th Street, getting on the subway, and being home within two hours.
